Teen Contest: Lance Burton Award

Submitting a Close Up Act for competition us easy and straightforward. Here are the details:

Award: $1000 for the best act in the competition.

Selection: People’s Choice. The audience will vote for their favorite act and the award will be given to whoever gets the maximum number of votes. Should there be the unlikely possibility of a tie, the award will be split between the two winners.

Requirements:
• Duration of Act - 5 minutes minimum - 10 minutes maximum.

• Act Content Provisions:
o Act may not contain “blue material”, as it is to be performed for a family audience.
o Act may not rely on predetermined audience confederates or stooges.
o Act may not be a “copy” of another performer or known performance. An act that considerably copies another performer will be immediately disqualified.

• The Act will possibly be performed at least 2 times in order to accommodate all World Magic Seminar attendees.

• Act Deadline - You must submit a DVD of your act to be RECEIVED by December 31, 2010. A judging panel will select the best acts that qualify for the competition. The panel will qualify a minimum of 5 acts and a maximum of 10 acts in order to participate in the competition. A list of the acts selected to participate in the contest will be posted on the World Magic Seminar website by January 15, 2011.

• You must be a FULL registrant for the convention and must be staying at the Orleans hotel to qualify (except if you are resident of Clark County with a valid Nevada ID).

• The World Magic Seminar will provide:
o A table and a close up mat upon which to perform
o A wireless microphone.
o Monitors around the room so that people in the back can see the act.
o Audio facilities (for background music) will be available upon request.
o Allow 2 minutes of preparation before act begins.
